Motherhood to William has been the most rewarding and challenging thing I have ever done but I wouldn’t change a single minute of it.

I thought I would share a few things I have learnt along my mama journey and share them with you……..
The first day we met, my labour story..
I still remember it as if it was yesterday, it wasn’t the most straight forward of labours and William certainly took his time deciding to join us.
I was already 2 weeks past my due date and set for an induction on the 19th November 2012 at 1:30pm; however at around 3:00am on the Monday morning, I woke thinking I had wet the bed only to find that as I stood up it was my waters that had broken. I woke Robert, showered, called the midwife and calming made my way to the hospital.
However this was not going to be a quick birth. Not long after arriving I was monitored for my contractions (which never really got going properly) but it was decided by the midwives to allow things to progress themselves. Come the following day and still no baby they decided to stimulate my contractions and that was when the pain really kicked in, I was given gas and air and I have to say this was the most wonderful thing in the world!
So the afternoon of the 22nd looms and still no signs of William arriving, I was struggling a little more at this point as the contractions were increased and thus was the pain. I was tired, emotional and ready for this little boy to join us. It was decided that at this point it was time for an epidural, I slept for some of the Tuesday night and come Wednesday the 23rd at around 8:00 in the morning I had finally started to make progress and after a 31 hour labour William was finally born (at this point with relative ease) at 8:50 in the morning.
So amazingly my baby boy was now in my arms and I knew that I had one of the best and hardest jobs of all. Lesson learnt here……………..babies come when they are ready!!
